Following the cyberattack, Dublin Airport is still experiencing disruptions

Dublin Airport's Terminal 2 is experiencing its second day of disruptions following a cyberattack that took down a check-in and baggage system.

According to the airport, service for airlines coping with the "Europe-wide technical issue" is still ongoing.

US IT specialists are reportedly scheduled to arrive in Dublin on Sunday night in order to inspect the systems.

As of lunchtime, 13 flights—four outward and nine inbound—had been canceled, according to a Dublin Airport official.

According to Aer Lingus, it will be "significantly impacted" on Sunday, resulting in flight cancellations and delays.

Additionally, the airline promised to offer customers with information and encouraged them to check in online ahead of time.

"Ongoing disruption caused by a Europe-wide technical issue that is impacting on their check-in and boarding systems" is being addressed by airlines, according to Dublin Airport spokeswoman Graeme McQueen.

He stated that some airlines were still using labor-intensive manual workarounds to create boarding permits and bag tags.

Those who need to check in or drop off their luggage at the airport should allow extra time, but passengers should plan to arrive at the airport as usual today (two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul trip).

"If you are flying over the next 12, 24, 48 hours, keep an eye on your airline's updates, they will have the latest updates on the status of your flight."

RTX, the company that owns Collins Aerospace, a software provider, stated that it was "aware of a cyber-related disruption" to their system in "select airports" and that it wanted to find a rapid solution.

It determined that the technology that had been impacted was its Muse software, which let multiple airlines to utilize the same boarding gates and check-in kiosks at an airport instead of needing their own.

What went wrong and how long the outage is expected to remain have not yet been disclosed by the company.
