Since no one won the most recent drawing on Wednesday night, the Powerball jackpot has risen to $1.7 billion, the third-highest amount in history.
The ticket that matched all six of the numbers drawn on Wednesday—red Powerball 22 and white balls 3, 16, 29, 61, and 69—was not won by anyone.
There is a 1 in 24.9 chance of winning a prize overall, and a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the jackpot.
The following drawing will take place on Saturday evening. The total cash value of the jackpot is about $770.3 million.
According to the statement, eleven tickets that matched all five white balls were sold, and two of those tickets won $1 million in prizes in California. While the others outside the state were sold in Peyton, Colorado; Fort Myers, Florida; Commerce, Georgia; Atlanta; Aurora, Illinois; Pikesville, Maryland; Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; Canfield, Ohio; and one in Pennsylvania, the precise site has not yet been disclosed, those were sold in Riverside and Bakersfield.
According to the statement, four tickets that matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option for an additional $1 upon purchase won $2 million. In addition to Detroit and Houston, they were also sold in Wyoming and Oregon, though the precise locations have not yet been disclosed.
36 tickets were awarded a $100,000 prize, and 117 tickets were awarded $50,000 prizes.
According to a Powerball news release, a winner of the Powerball jackpot will have the option of receiving a lump sum payment of $770.3 million or an annuitized award of $1.70 billion. Both are prior to taxes.
The winner who chooses the annuity option will receive 29 yearly installments, which will increase by 5% annually, after receiving one payment right away.
Both of the largest Powerball jackpots ever won occurred in California: Edwin Castro of Altadena won a $2.04 billion ticket in November 2022, and Theodorus Struyck and a group of people in Frazier Park won a $1.765 billion Powerball lottery in October 2023.
