What to anticipate from Google's next Pixel hardware in 2025

At its Made by Google event this week, Google is preparing to unveil a new lineup of Pixel devices, including the flagship Pixel 10 phone line. New watches and earbuds are also anticipated.

Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous leaks of this year's Pixel range, which have revealed almost everything we believe the company will present at tomorrow's launch event, including colors, specifications, and pricing.

A few details regarding the devices and the August 20th event have even been formally confirmed by the corporation. Our most recent look is based on an advertisement that shows off the majority of the new hardware and promises to have Jimmy Fallon, Steph Curry, Lando Norris, and the Jonas Brothers as guests.

Since Google has already unveiled the phones, it is no secret that the Pixel 10 range is on the horizon. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold are the four variants we anticipate this year.

Google has also released additional teasers concentrating on the designs of the Pro and the Pro Fold, both of which are seen in a grayish blue hue we anticipate calling "moonstone." The 10 and one of the Pro versions, as well as the Fold, are all shown briefly in the commercial embedded above. That bright blue Pixel 10 in the event ad is apparently a color that Google is calling “indigo,” and the whole lineup appears in this leaked image obtained by Android

I've been following every significant Pixel 10 announcement, leak, and rumor, but I'll only highlight the most important ones here if you want the complete in-depth analysis of the four new phones.

First, it appears likely that the base Pixel 10 will adopt a new 5x telephoto lens and make the first move to a triple camera arrangement. The main and ultrawide cameras will likely be downgraded to make up for this, which could potentially make the 10's primary camera worse than the Pixel 9's. That won't be viewed as an overall improvement by everyone.

Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, which we hope will also include adoption of the speedier Qi 25W standard released last month, should be the major upgrade across all four phones. According to leaks, Google will also launch a range of magnetic accessories to match the phone, dubbed "Pixelsnap" to replace MagSafe.

The 10 Pro Fold, on the other hand, is said to be the first foldable from any manufacturer to have both great water resistance and an IP68 classification, which denotes complete protection against dust and tiny particles. That seems like a bit of an engineering coup for Google, if it's true, and we'd like to know more about how it was accomplished.

The planned software updates for the Pixel are likewise well known to us. Google has previously unveiled Material 3 Expressive, a vibrant new design language that will probably be included with the next Pixel 10 smartphones in the first quarterly update of Android 16. We're hoping to learn more about the possibility of a new Android desktop mode tomorrow, and we'll be surprised if there aren't any additional AI announcements in the works.
